MEASURE FIRST

How to prepare your inputs

Measure water-surface dimensions and water depth. Separate steps, benches and irregular sections.

How this calculation works

For a uniformly sloping rectangular bottom, average depth = (shallow + deep) ÷ 2. Litres = length × width × average depth × 1,000.

Worked example

8 × 4 m with a uniform bottom slope from 1 to 2 m holds approximately 48,000 L.

Assumptions & exclusions

Rectangular footprint and uniform bottom slope only. Excludes steps, benches, curves and voids. Does not calculate chemicals, filtration, heating or barrier compliance.

Your next step

Confirm actual pool capacity with the pool contractor before equipment or treatment decisions.

What if my shape or product is different?

Use dimensions and product data that match the stated method. For complex work, calculate separate sections or obtain a project-specific take-off. Do not apply simple geometry to structural or compliance decisions.

Why are quantities rounded up?

Whole bags, packs, sheets or cartridges round up to purchasable units. Decimal area or volume results are planning figures; confirm order increments with the supplier.

Are my entries saved?

No. Entries remain in the current browser page and clear on reload. Printing can save your results and inputs as a PDF on your device.
