More confidence to connect.

Preparing your account? This guide explains the proposed manual-check approach. We will confirm the checks and submission method relevant to you before requesting documents. This page does not collect uploads.

Start with your role

What applies to you?

Tradies & trade businesses

Have your business details ready, plus the licence and insurance evidence relevant to the services you offer. Photo ID may be requested if identity needs clarification.

Business owners hiring tradies

Have your business details and authority to act ready. A trade licence or trade insurance is not an automatic requirement just because you post a hiring opportunity.

Offering services as well as hiring? The provider checks also apply to the work you offer. Requirements vary by trade and jurisdiction; an account category does not replace your legal obligations.
Four checks, explained

Have the right information ready.

Provide what is relevant to the requested check. Please wait for submission instructions before sending identity documents.

01
Business details

ABN register check

For tradies and business owners using an ABN

What to provide

Your ABN, legal entity name and trading name. If you act for a company, explain your role and authority.

What the check means

We compare the business details and ABN status with ABN Lookup. A business name or ABN alone does not prove the person contacting us is authorised.

02
Licensed work

Trade licence check

For anyone offering work that requires a licence

What to provide

Your licence number, issuing state or territory, licence holder name and the work you offer.

What the check means

We check the relevant regulator’s register where available, including status, class, conditions and expiry. A document photo alone is not an independent register check.

03
Cover for your work

Insurance evidence

For providers where relevant to their work or requested

What to provide

A current certificate of currency showing the insured entity, cover type, limits and period. The full policy is not normally needed for an initial check.

What the check means

We review the certificate against your business details and stated work. Sighting it does not independently confirm the insurer’s position or cover for every job.

✓ Insurance evidence sightedOnly displayed after that check is completed.
04
When clarification is needed

Photo ID sighting

For an account representative when reasonably necessary

What to provide

If requested, show photo ID during a brief, unrecorded video call. We explain the purpose and arrange the method first; an alternative can be discussed.

What the check means

We visually compare the person and photo/name. No recording or screenshot is requested under this proposed process. Manual sighting is not independent document authentication.

From details to review

A straightforward process.

  1. 1

    Get your details ready

Use the checklist for your role. Keep business and credential names consistent, or explain the relationship.

  2. 2

    Confirm what is needed

We explain the purpose, relevant evidence and submission method. Do not send a bundle of ID photos by unsolicited message.

  3. 3

    Complete the review

A reviewer checks the relevant source or evidence. Missing or inconsistent information may need clarification.

  4. 4

    Keep details current

Tell us about changes, restrictions or expired cover. A previous check does not establish current status indefinitely.

Less unnecessary information

Keep your private details private.

We recommend keeping a minimal verification record: the account, check type, source, result, reviewer, check date and relevant expiry. Exact retention and submission arrangements must be explained before collection.

  • Never send passwords, one-time codes or card security details.
  • Keep identity images, home addresses and document numbers out of public listings.
  • Do not send a selfie or driver-licence photos by SMS unless a specific collection process has been explained and agreed.
  • Where photo ID is sighted by video, the proposed approach is an unrecorded call, without screenshots.
